Are My Pets Insured While Travelling?
Yes. While your pets are in our care, they are covered by our Business Liability Insurance. This policy provides protection in the event of injury or loss resulting from proven negligence or misconduct on our part. Please note that, like all liability insurance policies, ours includes specific limitations and exclusions. While some providers may advertise being ‘fully insured’, no insurance policy in Australia offers comprehensive coverage for every possible incident during pet transport.
What Our Insurance Does Not Cover:
Our policy does not cover:
Pre-existing conditions (e.g. Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome BOAS), whether known or unknown
Illness or injury not caused by our actions
Administration of medication (even if prescribed)
Accidents caused by third parties (e.g. other drivers or other animals)
Livestock and working dogs
Private Pet Insurance
Pet Porter strongly encourages owners to obtain private pet insurance for broader protection. Pet insurance can become especially important when purchasing and transporting young animals as they are more vulnerable to illness and communicable diseases. If you are buying from a breeder, please verify whether they have insurance for their business. Breeders are subject to obligations under Australian Consumer Law and must ensure the health of your new pet.
Final Note
Pet Porter encourages all clients to carefully review the scope of our insurance and consider obtaining additional coverage where necessary. We are committed to providing safe and reliable transport, however, our coverage does not extend to all potential risks, and we cannot guarantee protection in every circumstance. Liability coverage does not guarantee compensation if an animal becomes ill or injured while in our care unless caused directly by our negligence.
